Worlds of the Future should have caused Hedonismbot to have a fit of condescending laughter. After all, it's full of all the characters you know and love from the beloved twice-canceled sci-fi series, and even brings city building, battles, and decision-based storytelling together to try and have some fun. And this is definitely what it would be if only it weren't so excruciatingly slow.

Worlds of Tomorrow begins quite promising thanks to new animations featuring the entire Planet Express team. Hypnotoad found true love, as we've always known, but as a result, Hypnowaves turned New York into an even more tangled mess of time and space than usual. But good news for everyone - there are seven artifacts scattered throughout the universe that can bring order, or what counts on Futurama.

Thanks to the trusty (for everyone but Bender) Robot 1-X, you can start bringing New York City back block by block in the best city-building fashion ever. As you clear more space, you will unlock many locations from the show, as well as recruit more characters and place decorations such as the Slurm Machine and Suicide Booth.

Fry, the Professor and the gang can perform actions that generate Nixon Bucks, experience points and items after the allotted time. Some items are required to complete quests, while others can be used to create costumes such as Robot Fry and Pharaoh Bender, which are essentially separate characters. On a long-running show like Futurama, there really is no limit to the number of characters that can be included, and your loved one will almost certainly be there, although we didn't encounter a robot devil during our review.ora.

City building goes hand in hand with space exploration missions, in which the team travels to places like Omicron Perseus 8 and Mars to find the Hypnotons, which are clearing more space in the city. As you fly the trails for each space mission, you will land on battle nodes and story nodes, the first of which involve 8-bit battles between your characters and various enemies. These fights sound and look cool, but instead of any turn-based battles, you simply tap at specific times to land critical hits or defend your team, sometimes performing special moves when your character's meters fill up.

The same can be said for the supposed "choose your own adventure" bits. While it is true that you are offered various dialogue options and actions, and the mentioned dialogue is often quite funny, the fact remains that the choices you make do not really affect the story, because you can just go back to the mission again if you mess up something. That's if you have enough energy to do it, because the limitations on how much you can do in space early on are really noticeable.

Worlds of Tomorrow, ensuring you stick to short play sessions because you really don't have a choice. Your characters are often tied up for hours to secure items that you may or may not receive when they finish their actions, and city and space gameplay are tied together in such a way that you can easily get stumped in both areas at the same time.
