Reviews for Maiar Browser
I wish the omnibox would be at the bottom, or at least to have the option to have a button in the bottom toolbar that would prompt me to type in the address I want to go to. Chrome has this option in flags, and honestly it's the only thing preventing me from completely switching to Maiar. Instead of having the huge main apps menu button at the bottom, why not an omnibox prompter? Otherwise it's amazingly fast, but this one detail is a huge deal breaker. For others with tall phones as well.
In the development of a web browser, elements must be inclusive within that architecture. At times, a complete set of elements will be inclusive within that new browser, that have been employed in a former one. This does not make the new web browser a knockoff. If the new browser operates well, then the developers should be applauded, not smeared as being a thief of another's accomplishments. To those developers of this app I salute you, and wish you much success in future.
Maiar is now my go-to browser because of one singular feature I have yet to find in other mobile browsers: Not only does it play videos in the background, but it will continue to play them even if you are surfing the web in other Maiar windows or using other apps. Meaning I can listen to a video's audio on Maiar without interruption as I do other things on my phone. Other than that, Maiar is a pretty bare-bones browser but that AMAZING background playback feature makes it indispensable.
Looks like a Brave clone. No mention of trackers in the Settings despite being mentioned in the blurb. No protection against unsafe sites. No feature to hide or automatically accept cookie notifications like Opera has. And Chromium-based browsers need to fix the "Site settings". Just list all the settings on one page with tickboxes. Having to go in and out of each setting is annoying if you want to change a lot of settings after installation.
