This app works. I used this app to sign an apk to stop Google Play Store from prompting me to update it. It is a popular app that came pre-installed on my phone. What I discovered (after the signed apk failed to install) was that Samsung (and probably other companies) have customized their apk for the app. One needs to remove all symbolic links to the installed app, before one can install the newly signed apk. ADB allows one to do this. Don't blame the developer. Do your research. Good Luck!

Somewhat unclear in places, but it did the job just fine. I use this to re-sign apps when they implement features that I don't like or remove features that I do like: Step 1 - Find the apk for the version before the unwanted change. Step 2 - Uninstall the app and reinstall it from that apk. Step 3 - Use apk-signer to sign the app. After doing this the app has a new signature which won't match the one in the play store, and thus it won't pester you to update it any more.

Great app but if we could change the name of the generated RSA and SF files, it would be great. The default names should atleast be the key's alias instead of some random numbers or we can choose a name for them.
