Reviews for AdBlock Plus
The application does exactly what it intends to do, blocks all adds successfully, but for some reason it crashes and I constantly need to uninstall and install for it to work again, sometimes it takes longer than others, but in the end it crashes. The time that lasted the longest was about 5 days, which was better than just a couple of hours. Otherwise it would be the perfect ad blocking app.
I was going nuts trying to figure out why the Quora app for android would keep complaining about my internet connection. A quick peek at logcat showed that adblock was preventing it from being loaded. This needs to be fixed to grant 4 or more stars. Ability to modify the block patterns would also be a nice touch.
I'm curious to see how this application will evolve. I've been using add block on my computer for a while now and every now and then I would disable it in order to support the website. I agree that most adds are really annoying, but some others are ok and help the developers. I love the desktop application and I want to love this app, but there is plenty of room for improvement.
I've been waiting for this app to appear for quite some time. The features can be a little to confusing for newcomers. "No Root required" is a plus, although I am rooted. New ability to Hide the notification icon is great, nice move on the feedback.
If the app misbehaves with root (Which it will), you cannot uninstall it - It permanently changes setting and prevents connection to the internet when uninstalled. I also found that I could not reboot my phone successfully after the uninstall - It crashes immediately. this app should be removed from the market.
I love adblock plus on my pc, and wouldn't browse without it. However, it started crashing on my Nexus 4, resulting in pages not loading properly. Additionally, upon uninstalling, a complete reboot was required in order to use internet again. While I'll sadly have to see ads until I find something worth rooting for, at least I'll be able to browse the web.
I initially thought it's issue with default filtering list (Fanboy). Then, I switched to EasyList and the same problem is still there. Either Quora URL pattern is filtered by all list OR AdBlock Plus app is blocking all Quora request. It would be nice to see ABP work with Quora app.
I was excited to see this available without needing to root my Nexus 7. Unfortunately, while it does block ads, it also blocks my WiFi connection and fails to load pages. Great idea, but unusable. Uninstalling for now, but I'll keep an eye on development.
Crashes frequantly when opening few tabs in chrome. Perhaps android closes it to save resources. When it works it works fine, but the crashing is so irritating since you have to enable adblock proxy multiple times per day since it crashed.
You say it's not possible to completely disable the notification bar icon, but it is. Please check out AdFree because that developer did it. Please include an option to completely disable this icon. The lack of such an option for any app is an automatic 1 star review for me. Thanks.
